Jim has commented a few times that if Hemant got saved that was ‘off the clock’. What Jim paid Hemant to do was go to 10 church services and write reviews of them. (You can find those reviews here) And the point of having Hemant do that was to help Christians learn what church is like from an atheist’s point of view.

So, yes, this was about understanding. Absolutely.

Was this really about bringing Hemant into the fold? Or, was it about learning how others think? If you believe that you “paid for” his sole, you were sold a bill of goods. Being a fellow atheist, I can say this because, by course we do not believe there is a soul.

This quest should be about understanding and knowledge, not about bringing an atheist closer to the Lord. By definition an atheist can’t get closer to something he does not believe exists. True Christians would follow what they preach, and accept all people, even non-believers. This exercise is misguided if it is about converting someone.

Jim, I left a comment at the end of the dialog on Hement’s impressions of Willow Creek Church.

I noticed that the most recent date on those was in July and am wondering if he still reads those? I hope so.

Do you think he is any closer to discovering the Lord?
