April, I have so much respect for people who do that (invite someone to their home who have nowhere to go).

I visited the elderly woman in a nursing home who I sometimes visit on Monday and she said that a woman from my ex-church (who I know has put a lot of effort into doing a number of kind things for her) is picking her up in the morning on Thanksgiving to be with her family all day.

I was so happy to hear that.

April, I love how you provided a place for people with nowhere to go and now your Mom is following your example! How cool is that.

From the time that I crested into adulthood, Thanksgiving became a time for me to invite people who didn't have a family to go on Thanksgiving. My mom was always a little annoyed by that (LOL!)

This year, though, I am having nearly my entire family at my new home for Thanksgiving and strangely enough, it ws my mother who invited three people who had no place to go! In fact, it is a family of three who are going through marital and emotional problems.

In answer to your question, yes. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to minister to those who don't have family to go to. It is also a wonderful time to bring faith to the dinner table among all types of people.

I pray that my home will be a place of healing and peace this coming holiday.
