“How’s It Going?”

Just this morning I passed by a couple of the women who attend our church. “How’s it going?” I asked. I got the typical “Fine, thanks,” kind of response, but I thought I noticed little tension or frustration. “No, really … how is it going?” I asked again.

Then they proceeded to tell me that they got a flat tire on the way to church and had to call a wrecker to come and change the tire during the church service. It was still early enough that their car wasn’t ‘boxed in’ so I got some orange cones we keep around the church and posted a zone around their vehicle so that when the wrecker came they would have the room needed to change the tire.

Way to go, Scott! Glad you were willing to listen to these women…and help with their problem. Most of us would have taken their initial response of “fine” and moved on. You paid attention. Nice.
