Not Defending Her Space
I was in line at the supermarket when I noticed the woman behind me must have gotten more than she originally intended because she didn’t have a cart, and her arms were full. I was next in line to be served. “Would you like to go ahead of me?” I asked.
“Oh, that would be so wonderful,” she sighed. I stepped aside and helped her lay her purchases on the conveyor. After expressing her gratitude, I smiled and then I prayed for her behind her back.

Way to notice…and use unauthorized prayer! Very kind of you to let her go ahead of you as well. PAYING attention always costs us something (which is why it’s called that), but usually it doesn’t cost us much. And the benefit is huge, both to those we pay attention to and to us. If we’re not too rushed, we might actually end up participating in what God is doing in someone else’s life…which is precisely what I think YOU did. Nice.

To Randy…
I think paying attention has it’s toll, like actually listening, but it almost aways pays back double!
Way to go Barb… It sounds so nice of you to do, and it definitely sounds like the lady appreciated it!!
