Small Talking
I was never one for small talk. It kind of drives me crazy. But after reading about the importance of small talk in the Evangelism Without Additives book for our DE class, I began to take a different view.
I volunteer at the information desk at a local hospital, and I often walk people down to different offices or areas. The walks used to be a bit uncomfortable at times, but now I am learning to engage in “small talk” with them. It seems to make people more comfortable, and lends to a friendlier atmosphere. It’s been a little break through for me.

It’s the small stuff that really counts! Jesus made a big deal out of small stuff (widow’s mite, fish and loaves, splinter in eye, lust in heart, etc.). These little things seem to have HUGE effect in us and others.
Way to celebrate “a little breakthrough”, Arlene! Small talk is pretty big to those patients you escort…and I think to Jesus as well.

Arlene,
I’m with you on the small talk. I’ve always been crap at it, and hated it, and recentlyish I’ve been learning both its value and how to do it. Way to go.
