You can find out a lot by listening to the regular waitress. We had one named Susan. She always seemed nervous and sore, so we would have her sit with us and talk. We found out that she had an abusive husband who would beat her if she did not bring home enough tips that day, and had even made her stoop to stealing from the register. I remember praying for her when she came in with a bruised eye once. I wish I could say that this story had a happy ending, but it didn't. She ended up getting fired due to stealing, even though we tried to leave VERY large tips (sometimes as much as the bill was) but when she left, she made a point of waiting for us to come like normal, and told us what had happened. Then she asked. "Can, will you, please, pray for me? I don't normally ask, but please, I figure you are someone I can talk to."

And to think, it all started because we asked her to sit for a minute.

They have begun to simply listen to their regular waitress.

Wow...

What if we all did this with our regular waitress/waiter? Instead of leaving tracts (in place of tips) or just ignoring them (as is our usual custom), what if we actually paid attention to them?

What a great example of an ongoing series of OA's at a restaurant. I hope we get to hear more about this connection!

How natural for them to say they would be praying for her...now that they can do it out of friendship.

I love OAs - they bless both people. Being open to what God is already doing is a gift.

thanks.
