Breaking The Ice
OK, I did it! I was pulling into my garage and instead of rushing in with all my bags and closing the big door behind me, I threw my bags inside the door, grabbed the mailbox key and quickly walked to my mailbox. Why did I do this? Because I saw my neighbor, the guy who lives behind us, walking that way. I was hoping he was going to the mailbox; and he was! His family has been leasing the house behind us for several minths now and I have never met any of them. So, I broke the ice with, “Wow, you have to walk all the way over here to get your mail?” That was easy. But then came the next line…”I’d like to have you and your wife and sons over for a BBQ sometime soon, would you be interested in that?” I half held my breath fearing rejection. He smiled big and said, ”Sure!” I asked his name, shook his hand and accomplished an OA worthy of note.
I recently left my church staff position to focus on my neighborhood and family…to be Jesus to them. I am excited and scared, too!

Wow, Margaret! How cool are you! You decided to go local and I really applaud you for that. Add to that the fact that you did something that took real courage. Keep stepping off that ledge for Jesus. What no one tells you is that once you start doing that, it becomes a wonderful adventurous life.
