Q Place Digs DE

I was invited to do a short presentation to the Q Place staff and volunteers on Monday, December 6. It was to be a 30 minute presentation of the basic principles I taught at their annual conference back in October, and then another 20 minutes of Q and R (questions and responses). There were 70 people invited to attend, and I was to provide a handout for each person. I was also asked to end the time by describing how a church or organization could bring the DE Seminar/Workshop to their area, and to outline the costs.

And it was all to be done on the phone.

It went great, although I have to admit I missed hearing the instant feedback I usually get from a crowd, face to face. Here’s a few comments from the president and CEO of Q Place, Mary Schaller:

Randy, you did a great job of highlighting the essence of Doable Evangelism and it did not seem rushed at all.  I was amazed at how well you used the time.  Another story I thought about when you were talking about spiritual concierges was a woman in Sandpoint (I’ll call Christina) who is going to start a Q Place with another guy and myself.  She works at retail store in town and she had befriended another employee and had never talked about any spiritual issues.  However, her life consistently shows a quality that I think people naturally attribute to faith.  One day this woman (I’ll call Loren) who we have already been praying for to accept an invitation when we launch our Q Place.  She hadn’t seen Christina in a few weeks and ran up to her saying, “I have something I have really wanted to talk with you about.”  Loren said that she occasionally attended a Catholic church and had been raised in that faith.  Her 16 year old daughter was starting to attend a protestant youth group and she wanted Christina’s advice on whether that was a good idea.  It was the same thing that you had said on the call.  Pretty soon, people start to seek you out for advice on spiritual matters.  They had a great conversation about Christianity.

And one more from Jan Teat, the National Field Support Catalyst for Q Place:

Randy,

Thanks for your excellent presentation.  I found it to be a helpful review of your workshop at the NOC and at Vital.  I know your stuff works because I did this after the NOC with a lady.  When I sat down with her for lunch and asked her to tell me her story, she didn’t stop talking to eat one bite the entire two hours!  :)   She told me that no one had ever asked her that before.  In our busy society, people crave the attention of another!  Your message is so relevant and compliments what we are doing at Q Place!  Thank you!

Blessings,
Jan Teat
