As a pastor, I naturally responded by telling her to buzz off and then slammed the receiver down. Not really. Unless you are depraved beyond what Calvin said we all are at birth, most of us would say something like, “Well, I’ll try.”

These two Catholic nuns say they never dreamt of running away to join the circus when they were children. But their faith has brought these women to Ringling Brothers Circus. Sister Dorothy Fabritze, 54, and Sister Bernard Overkamp, 58, say their mission at the circus is like any other they would undertake — to bring the word of God to people who have not heard it. Members of the Missionary Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, they are determined to “let people in this circus know that there’s a God who cares about them no matter what’s happened in their lives.”
